Less production work.
More clarity.
Slipreel is a focused Mac screen recorder and editor for people who need a polished product demo, tutorial, or walkthrough without turning every recording into a video-production project.
Why Slipreel exists
A useful screen recording often starts as something ordinary: a feature explanation, a support answer, a launch update, or a quick walkthrough for a teammate. The recording is the easy part. The time disappears afterward, while fixing cursor movement, adding zooms, framing the screen, balancing audio, creating captions, and exporting versions that fit where the video needs to go.
Slipreel was built to shorten that gap. It automatically detects clicks and creates editable zoom regions, smooths the recorded cursor, supports device and window frames, keeps microphone and system audio on separate tracks, generates captions on the Mac, and exports MP4 or GIF. The automation provides a starting point; the timeline remains editable when a moment needs different timing or emphasis.
Built for a focused workflow
Slipreel is intentionally a local editing tool rather than a hosted video platform. It is designed for founders, product and marketing teams, developer advocates, educators, and support teams who want to record, refine, and export a file they control. It does not try to replace a full nonlinear editor, and it does not require every recording to be uploaded to a proprietary sharing service.
- Local media processing: recordings, editing, caption transcription, and export happen on your Mac.
- Editable automation: automatic zooms are normal timeline regions that can be moved, resized, retimed, or removed.
- A real trial: recording and editing are available without a time limit, with three free full-quality exports.
- Clear ownership: exported MP4 and GIF files are yours to save and share using the tools you already use.
Who makes it
Slipreel is made and operated by Becoming Ventures, LLC. The direct-download Mac app is signed with an Apple Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and updated through a cryptographically verified update feed. Product changes are documented in the public changelog, and supported installers remain available in the download archive for customers whose one-time license covers an earlier release.
Privacy and transparency
Your screen recordings, camera footage, audio, and exported videos are not uploaded to Slipreel. Captions run on-device after the speech model is downloaded. The app still needs limited network access for licensing, updates, and optional analytics or diagnostics; those boundaries are described in the privacy policy. The getting-started guide explains permissions, recording, editing, export, and licensing in plain language.
